Effortless Abundance - A Cupcake Story

There was a young man doing a visualization about attracting money. He focused on the feeling of money coming into his life, not seeing any particular way that money would arrive. He did this "feeling-ization" once, held it for about a minute, then went on with his life. A few days later, he and his friend decided to visit a bakery in New York City that specializes in cupcakes, only to discover when they arrived that the line for cupcakes was out the door and halfway around the block. The two friends decided to wait in line anyway (what the heck, they're college students and had time on their hands) and just enjoyed being together, anticipating the cupcakes they would get when it was their turn. Forty-five minutes later, they were next in line when a businessman in a suit walked up to the young man and said, "I really want four cupcakes, and I don't have time to wait in line. I'll give you a hundred dollars if you'll buy my cupcakes for me."

There are so many "synchronicities" in this story that it's mind-boggling. Of all the activities to choose to do, these two friends decided to go for a cupcake. Of all the possible bakeries, they decided to visit this particular one. Then they chose to wait in line, enjoying the day. Then the businessman decided, of all things, that he needed cupcakes and arrived at the bakery at just that moment. Then of all the people in line to approach, he chose the two college students. Not to mention that, at the very beginning of this, the young man chose to feel money coming into his life and then released any attachment as to how it was going to come.

That last point is a Big Point: Many people think that prosperity comes through their jobs or the work that they do. That's a limiting belief that broadcasts a signal to the Universe saying, "Only bring money to me through my job." The Universe, when given free rein, loves to surprise us with creative methods of delivering to us that which we want.

The sum of the story is this: The young man accepted the $100 and split it with his friend, the business man got 4 cupcakes that cost him $25 apiece and was happy, the two students ended up with gourmet cupcakes and a pocketful of cash, and we got a great Abundance story. See? Everyone wins.

What this story could mean in your life:

Adopt a new practice of doing "feeling-izations" -- visualizations incorporating how it feels to have that which you want. Act on inner nudges, even if they don't seem to mean anything... you never know where they might be leading you. Acknowledge the magic of synchronicities as they are happening. Practice effortlessness -- Put your request out to the Universe, then let it go! Let the Universe figure out the "How." Enjoy your day, anticipating pleasant things happening.
